We use Swarm for distributed lighting. One issue we’ve noticed is that when Swarm agent PCs sleep due to their power management configurations, they no longer participate in the Swarm. It would be ideal if Swarm PCs could “wake up” when they receive a job. Perhaps the initiating agent could send “Wake on LAN” packets to the other agents?
Yes, the workaround is simple – turn off sleep. But when we’re talking about scores of machines, there’s a real cost in terms of energy consumption.
