Text Render Text not change

TextRender Component’s Text has no response.
It changes only if the project re-open.

Hi rz1974,

This is a known issue and has been entered into our system as UE-20355.

Hi!

Where can I view the full list of issues and keep track of it?

Unfortunately we do not have a public bug tracker at this time. If you have requests about specific bugs, you can post asking for an update and we’ll look up the status for you.

I know this was answered already but if you right click on your TextRenderer node and select Duplicate, it will create a duplicate but with the updated text in case you wanted a “quick hack” to see what it looks like.

Even better, just rename the name of your TextRenderer and it will reflect it, probably just an on update issue for the trigger event for that text component.

I am having that issue as well but mine doesn’t update at all when I exit and bring it back up (don’t get me wrong some things did like a light source started working, actually all). I am a newb I thought I did something wrong but seems not, duplicating it sounds like I would have to change some of the blue print as well I may do it later well thanks for making me feel a bit better lol.

(I quite literally started a few hours back so to me everything is still touchy feely and a bit alien due to me coming from modo’s 3D navigation {coupled with me being a mile from my screen) to this one. All I made was in the default scene the statue glows, a text appears when you get near it to tell you which key to press and if you press it particles and lights turn on need to fix it where the emitter/glowing effect works the same instead of being a constant think I have an idea just make a new material just for that I think )

Hi Malus.Lupus,

Thank you for this information, I will update the bug report to reflect this.

Thankyou thankyou thankyou ! Blowing my brains out trying to get the text to change

mate, you just saved me! Thank you

This issue still exists as of UE 4.10.1, makes it kind of harder to follow the tutorials. It also has the side effect that some of the stuff from the “Starter Content” project, if you migrate that to a different project, has “Text” standing in the middle of nowhere even though the text should be empty.

So while this is not a major issue for those who know the workaround shown in the answer by Ricci, it kind of makes you not being able to follow the tutorials, so maybe you might consider prioritizing this issue. This bug somehow screws all the great work which has been put into the tutorials :-).

This issue still happens with 4.11.0 preview 8.

Hi everyone,

This bug report is still under assessment. Unfortunately, I do not have a timeframe of when it will be addressed. It has turned out to be a duplicate of another bug, that bug report number is UE-20223.
