Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

NavMesh redraw bug

I posted a comment to another question on the Answer Hub but it has been several days with no reply from an Epic Staff or anyone who can help.

https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/292356/warning-paths-may-not-be-valid-navmesh-trouble.html

I believe that it is a bug with the NavMesh and would like it investigated ASAP as its holding up a few things.

If this isnt a Bug could someone explain as to what exactly is going wrong and why it is acting the way it is.

Thank you.

Hello DevilsD,

I have a few questions that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?

  2. If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps in order to reproduce this issue on our end?

  3. Have you tired rebuilding paths/replacing the nav mesh that is causing the issue?

  4. Has the project that you are currently using been upgraded from an older version of the engine?

Ive tried rebuilding paths and new Navmesh bounds as well but no change.

Infact yes this is a converted project from 4.8 to 4.9 (It was not converted into any preview builds before 4.9 full release).

Heres a video of it in a new 4.9 First person template project.

Hello DevilsD,

I have a few more questions for you.

Quick questions:

  1. Could you provide the nav mesh settings that you are using?

  2. Could you provide any changes that you may have made to the template project?

  3. Could you provide the command that is being used during runtime to show the nav mesh (I am using Show Navigation and I am not seeing the result that you are seeing)?

  1. Im using the default settings, as you saw i just dragged a new Navmesh in from the Volumes tab without altering any settings except for its position and bounds.

  2. No changes were made to the template project at all, it was a straight up new project.

  3. I press the ' Key and then hit 0 to draw Navmesh.

Hello DevilsD,

The command that you are using is meant to only show the parts of the nav mesh that are currently active. This means what you are seeing is the intended functionality of this command. If you would like to see the complete nav mesh you could use the '~' key to open the command prompt and you could then type in "Show Navigation", this will show the whole nav mesh. I hope that this information helps.

Make it a great day
