Basically when I turn on the editor it works fine, I can access things in the UI and edit everything from the detail panel, world outliner etc. but as soon as I try to move the camera, drag and drop a texture or scroll around a blueprint actions get further and further behind. The lag keeps increasing until I alt+tab then bring it back up again at which point everything goes back to normal.
From what you describe you open a new project, but when you do simple tasks like moving the camera then UE4 starts to lag. This lag then steadily increases until you alt + tab and bring UE4 back to your screen.
I have a few questions for you.
1.) Can you reproduce this in another project?
2.) Can you reproduce this with a more recent version of UE4? Either 4.8 or 4.9?
3.) Please link your DxDiag so that I can see what your computers specs are.
After troubleshooting this and linking this information I can get a better understanding of why this is happening.
I think I figured it out. I went through every process on my computer one by one until the lag stopped. It turns out there was an old driver running for some hardware I don’t have any more and after I ended the process the lag stopped immediately. I’m not sure why it was happening but that was definitely what was causing it.
