Why isn't my alpha channel working?

As you can see, the alpha channel is fully white. Is this normal?

What file type are you importing. If it’s .tga have you saved it as 32bit?

its a .psd

I was trying to follow this Tutorial and i noticed that alpha chanel was fully white.

It’s hard to see from your image what exactly is supposed to be the alpha channel. I imported a .psd image with a transparent background and it showed the background with a checkered pattern when I opened the asset, but the normally you can’t see the transparent background in the preview icon if that’s what you’re talking about.

A way to test if your transparency works properly is to create a new material with ‘Blend Mode’ set to ‘Translucent’ and connect the alpha channel of your image to ‘Opacity’.

that would be a problem with the image then. you can remove the alpha chanel color in photoshop, or remake the image.

When you check off alpha and red/green or green/blue you should see your image with no background any color.

For anyone who might need help. It turned out my PSD wasnt int the right image mode type.

Mine was set to greyscale. Make sure to change it to “RGB Color”. Go to Image>Mode>RGB Color. Select to not merge your layers.

Re-import the png and it should work now.
