The issue is that everything else works fine. How can i fix this issue without reformat? Would switching to windows 10 fix this? When trying this with windows 7 i had no issues. Played the unreal tournament game just fine.
Unfortunately the logs you uploaded aren’t giving us a lot to go on.
I understand that you have already tried this but could you run the launcher first with -opengl, and then run it again with -wininet added to the commandline.
Then could you take the whole log folder which should contain several log files, Zip it up and attach it to this issue.
Hopefully this will help us to track down the issue.
Thanks for providing those. I’ve managed to track down the issue to a crash relating to directx code. Interestingly your open gl is also crashing in a similar area.
Could you please upload your shader files, so we can check they haven’t been corrupted.
These are found generally at:
C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Launcher\Engine\Shaders\StandaloneRenderer
You will also be unable to download the latest launcher using the self patch because of the crash. However it would be good to check the latest release hasn’t fixed your issue.
Could you download the latest .msi from: Epic Games
After a lengthy investigation it’s been determined that your system is unable to compile the UE4 shaders. We currently have no definitive solution for your issue as it appears to be hardware related. Since your card is meant to be supported, you could try stepping down your graphics card driver in hopes of finding a previous version that will work. Alternatively, if you have access to another graphics card you could try that.
Unfortunately the AMD R9 380 and 390 are currently having driver issues and cannot load the editor properly. We have done internal testing on them and it is on AMD’s side of things. We recommend posting on the AMD’s forum to help expedite the fix.
The problem wasn’t AMD or their driver. It was directx. Out of being bored i decided to look into this problem again. Googled and found this answer on the answerhub
followed this procedure:
Backup your C:\windows\system32\D3DCOMPILER_43.DLL by renaming it to D3DCOMPILER_43.DLL_BACKUP
You should no longer have a C:\windows\system32\D3DCOMPILER_43.DLL file because you renamed it or moved it to a new location when backing it up.
Run the DirectX setup from your Unreal Engine install folder(The default location is this but you’ll need to use your install location: C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\DirectXRedist\DXSETUP.EXE
Ensure a new version of the D3DCOMPILER_43.DLL was put into your C:\windows\system32 folder.
Try starting Unreal Engine
It worked. The problem is that file _43.dll
It’s now updating. This should be included in the troubleshooting guide.
None of this [Redacted] has worked for me, and i have done everything on this site, and other sites discussing the issue about four times each.
Does ANYONE have a way of fixing the Application Error 0xc000007b for the Epic Games Launcher (Shadow Complex) once and for all. Because I am getting sick of this [Redacted] already
