Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse Turn Off

Today, I decided to start creating a game from scratch so I went and created a new blank project with no starter content. Unfortunately, soon after the computer starts to get slow and laggy, leading to jerky movement in the editor and outside applications. A few minutes after that, my mouse, keyboard, and monitor all turn off and yet my computer keeps running. This has happened multiple times since I started that blank project today. I have not had any issue running any of the advanced files/projects from the marketplace before this and my computer doesnt exhibit any unusual problems when not running UE4. I am wondering what is causing this and if I should just re-install UE4, or if it is something worse that can’t be fixed with a re-install.

Hi ,

Unfortunately I have thus far been unable to reproduce this effect. What are your system specs and what types of actions are you taking that lead up to the peripherals being turned off? Thank you and have a great day!

Well, it first crashed when I created a new project but left the starter content in. I didnt want the starter content so I thought I could just delete it from the folder browser. I tried selecting half the folders and telling it to delete them, and UE4 then began to give me a bunch of pop up windows saying this and that were changed/were still connected to the things I was deleting. I pressed ok for the first 30-40, but there were so many I just started clicking the X at the top right as quick as I could to get through them all and just remake a new project. Shortly after that, the monitor mouse and keyboard all shut off but my computer remained on. Note: each time I have had this happen, I had tried fixing it by deleting the old project and remaking a new one.

I have since reinstalled UE4 to a different hard drive and updated my graphics card. Unfortunately, while updating the graphics card lead from getting 30fps to 60fps in the editor, if I just let the editor sit for 3-6 minutes, they fps goes down into the 10s, even on a blank project. Luckily, it seems to jump back up to 30 fps once in a while and then it begins to decrease again, so while my computer has yet to have its monitor, keyboard and mouse shut down again, this marked decrease in fps is just like what happened right before those problems happened last time. Im really at my wits end with this. Im not really familiar with the terminology, but would this be considered a memory leak?

Hi ,

Can you please provide your dxdiag along with reproduction steps to get your fps error. Thank you!

Hi ,

We have not heard from you in quite some time. I am marking this as answered for tracking purposes, however, if you are still having this problem please comment with the information requested. Thank you!
