How do I retarget successfully default UE4 skeleton to a custom one?

Hello guys,

We are in desperate mode. We are trying to retarget UE4 default skeleton so we can use the “sword and shield” animations on our custom character. The problem is that when we assign the animations the custom character gets all messed up. The bones may not have the same names but they are in the same place. Head, Neck, Clavicle, Upper Left arm and et cetera. It should work. We tried matching the A pose the default character is when retargeting but still nothing. What are we doing wrong?

I have achieved this by going into the retarget manager of the ue4-manequin and selecting the humanoid rig.

then i setup all the bones of my own character made in Adobe Fuse CC in the retarget manager, (did the bones in the “Show Advanced” tab aswell)

Worked like a charm for me. you may want to lookup UE4 Bone-Scaling, without screenshots it’s really hard to tell what your problem really is.
