Can the First Person Shooter Example be used as a base for my game?

Ok, I haven’t actually used Unreal Engine yet but i have been looking through the documentation and i found the game examples and one of the examples was a first-person shooter example and It seemed like you could do things with that shooter in unreal engine to help you get the hang of stuff, and I was just wondering, if i made a first-person shooter game, could i use the example game as a starting base for the game and expand on it ALOT without getting in legal trouble?

For Example: I add new gamemodes, weapons, armor, upgrading system, clan system, etc. then release it on my website for people to download and play, is that allowed? I don’t mind having a link back to the unreal engine site or whatever else, I just want to know if i can use the example shooter as a base for a game i would like to put up for download on my site (Commercial or Non Commercial).

You are welcome to use ShooterGame example as a starting point for your project, commercial or noncommercial - either way is fine.
