Physical contact with environment

Check out Content Examples project > Animation level > 1.8 IK.

Basically it’s a combination of detecting the environment with traces and then applying IK to the animations.

Edit: I saw the thumbnail of Mirror’s Edge and assumed you were asking about parkouring. :stuck_out_tongue:

For item interactions you’ll need custom character animations for these events and then rotate the character > play the animation when you hit the use button.

Hello,
I’d like to ask about maybe a silly question…

Do you know when you have a physical contact with environment in games ?

I’d like to know the principle of this combination of external meshes with character’s animation

I think stuff like this with the velve wheel: Mirror's Edge - Full Game Playthrough (No Commentary) - YouTube

Thank you very much

Thank you, so for example in the scene (in Mirror’s Edge) with the valve wheel, there is no IK ?
Just disabling movement ; valve wheel animation ; character animation of hands…all separatly played after hitting the ‘use’ button ?

That’s correct.
