Earth Orbit Level

I’m working on putting the ISS into UE4 and having it appear to be in-orbit around Earth, animating solar panels to always be facing the sun, etc.
Getting the iss model in was cake, but I’m currently sifting the internets for ideas on the best way to make the Earth appear larger than life and not have any parallax. I only really need it to animate thru day/night cycles, but I really want to make it look good since there isn’t much else in the level.

I’m not sure the best way to make this. I was able to make this UDK Earth shader but the ISS orbit is relatively tight so the textures look really bad that close up.

I’m guessing procedural has the highest potential but I have no clue as to how to start learning how to make that happen. Procedural, streamed, animated skybox, any resources/ideas that anyone can point me to would be appreciated.

for easy reference:

ISS Orbit view of Earth

yup, i already have the tin cans setup for all the modules, now im slowly going thru and filling up each module’s interior 1 by 1.

not sure if i’ll actually reach the real life proportions, but theres an enormous blue spinning sphere for earth rite now :stuck_out_tongue:

I just wondering related to your project that sounds interesting, do you gonna simulate the real orbit of ISS?

Look cool, i’m interested in astonomy and unlike other people when i see flying star on the sky after sunset i know that ISS ;] If you really gonan simulate real orbit your software could be used to predict such flybys ^^ Thru i don’t know how to solve your problem, i’m more of programer. But i wish good luck with project

well I’m just aiming to mimic the basic trajectory, and then it’ll be looped.
the basis for this project is for simulating crew emergency procedures in the event of Depress, Fire, or Toxic Atmosphere on-board
