Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Planned Date for Rewrite Unreal Swarm in C++ (Linux, Mac)

While researching Swarm Client setup I ran across a forum post from last year and was wondering if there has been any progress on this point:

"We are planning to rewrite UnrealSwarm in C++, and at that point it will also become cross-platform and seamlessly work on Linux and MacOS. There is no timeline for this project yet, but it will probably happen this year - possibly as early as this Summer."

This quote is from this post made on Apr 10 '14 at 5:02 AM https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/27550/swarm-what-is-it-and-how-to-use-it.html

Thanks,

Hi CJ,

This question came up a few months back as well. I had checked in with a couple of the developers and currently there are no plans to pursue this at this time due to other priorities. This is something that we would like to have in a future release, unfortunately, there isn't a time frame for when this would be worked on and completed.

Thank you!

Tim

Ah, understandable. Thank you for your reply. I've used Swarm for a few projects and it's been very useful. We're just thinking about bootstrapping it onto a linux rendering farm, which it why I'm looking into it.

Could the code then be released as open source? I bet the dev community could contribute. Kindly,

~cj
