Planned Date for Rewrite Unreal Swarm in C++ (Linux, Mac)

While researching Swarm Client setup I ran across a forum post from last year and was wondering if there has been any progress on this point:

“We are planning to rewrite UnrealSwarm in C++, and at that point it will also become cross-platform and seamlessly work on Linux and MacOS. There is no timeline for this project yet, but it will probably happen this year - possibly as early as this Summer.”

Thanks,

Hi CJ,

This question came up a few months back as well. I had checked in with a couple of the developers and currently there are no plans to pursue this at this time due to other priorities. This is something that we would like to have in a future release, unfortunately, there isn’t a time frame for when this would be worked on and completed.

Thank you!

Tim

Ah, understandable. Thank you for your reply. I’ve used Swarm for a few projects and it’s been very useful.
We’re just thinking about bootstrapping it onto a linux rendering farm, which it why I’m looking into it.

Could the code then be released as open source? I bet the dev community could contribute.
Kindly,
