I get this every time I try to build the code from vs2013, does anyone know why this might be happening? I found somewhere online suggesting it’s faulty hardware, but I’ve never seen it before and it only happens when I try to compile ue4?

Hey Asher-
Are you building the engine from source code or are you building a code project? Is the solution configuration and solution platform set to Development Editor and Win64 respectively? Could you post the error message you’re receiving when trying to build?
Cheers
What’s the difference between building the engine from source code, and building a code project? I’m actually pretty sure I’m doing the former. I’ve grabbed the code from github, and am trying to build the UE4 solution in VS. Unfortunately there is no error message, my machine just bluescreens about 10 minutes into the build.
looking at the log mid build, I do get this error:
but it’s continuing to build beyond that point.
here’s a picture of the screen when it froze, before the BSOD
This has happened consistently btw - not just a one off.
ok so finally got to the end with no BSOD, and got this
Hey Asher-
After downloading the source and running Setup.bat and GenerateProjectFiles.bat did you make any changes to the source code prior to starting the build? Also, which version of Windows are you on (7, 8, or 10)?One thing that may help fix this issue would be to check that your SDKs are up to date by reinstalling them. If you’re still getting this error then you may need to re-download from github and try building again.
