Using Unreal 4 with Chrome OS?

Is there a way to use Unreal 4 on a chromebook?

Hi Mrs_Imagineer,

The Chrome OS is not a supported operating system. It is Linux based and although we support some versions of Linux, Chrome OS doesn’t support native apps. In much the same way as Android OS.

Here is what we recommend to run the Editor:

  • Desktop PC with Windows 7 64-bit or a Mac with Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later

  • 8 GB RAM

  • Quad-core Intel or AMD processor

  • DX11 compatible video card

Cheers,

TJ

Thank you!
Since you answered my other question then you know my situation. The school is now providing us with chromebooks, so getting Unreal on there was kind of my fall back.
This is most likely a stupid question. I’m only an intermediate Java computer programmer DX But if I did get that hard drive with an OS of its own (windows, per say) would it still work? Because the program is getting run through that drive?

I posted a response here.

There are plenty of YouTube tutorials that show you how to install Ubuntu, Windows and even Mac OS X (kind of) on a chromebook as well as reinstalling chromeos, so it is very possible to run UE4 on a chromeBOOK, but chromeos is a no go. It’s based entirely on the Chrome browser, and only supports extensions. I don’t believe there will be any HTML5 port of the Unreal Editor anytime soon.
Good luck mate.

Can you use Chromebook and teamviewer on a more powerful of?
