Unreal Engine Installation Help?

Hi All

For the past few months I’m using ue4 in my office to create AAA game. Two days back they have formatted my system. After formatting my system I’ve installed Perforce P4V then I got my latest ue4 source code and my project file from the perforce server. The problem is .uproject file is not detecting in the correct format. Do I need to install the unreal engine from the epic games launcher to detect the format or any other way to fix this problem please help me.

Hi Programmer,

Are you pulling down the exact same version of the engine that you were originally using? Go to the Help tab > About > and see exactly which changelist you are using.

Hi Game Programmer,

For clarification, are you saying that you have access to Epic Game’s Perforce repository for the source code? Please let me know if that is the case.

Hi TJ I’m using the version 4.9 I’ve pulled those files from the perforce my office server and that corresponding version project file also. The problem is .uproject file is not showing the blue U icon it is showing as unsupported format with the help of that only we can able to generate visual studio files right?? How to make my .UPROJECT file to blue U so that I can start my work again please help me.

When you right-click the .uproject file, do you have the option to Switch Engine Version? If so, make sure it is switched to the correct version of the engine.

No it is not showing that option. How to show Switch Unreal Engine version and how to generate visual studio files in .uproject file? pls help me for the past few days I got stuck with this problem.

Do you have all of the correct folder that go with the .uproject file (Config, Content)?

If so, can you post a screenshot of exactly what you are seeing when you do right-click on the .uproject file?

Try choosing ‘Open With’ and then choose the Unreal Engine. If it’s not immediately listed, you may need to search for the program.

Hi TJ I tried that method still it is not working. I’ll explain I’ve tried open with I’ve chosen UE4-version-selector-shipping.exe. I’ve selected it is saying that invalid command line dialog box appeared and closed then I’ve selected UE4Editor.exe after selecting it is not appeared in “open with” list so I cannot able to open the project with UE4Editor.exe. Is there any other way to open the file so that I can able to switch my current version and generate visual studio files after right clicking on them.
