When i try to open up a blueprint editor it turns white.

I notice that i will sometimes try to open up an editor window, and suddenly the window dissapears, and cannot be viewed. The only way to view it is by doing ALT+Tab and that just shoes up a a white window as shown below.

Please help!

Hello caelanim8ter,

I have attempted, but was ultimately unable to, reproduce your issue. Is there anymore information that you could think of that could be helpful in attempting to reproduce your issue?

Have a great day,

Sean Flint

Okay, well it is kinda odd, all i can say is, that i have tryed re-installing the editor, I have tryed reinstalling the unreal engine launcher, ANd i have tryed it on new projects that are not this one.

So it can’t be the engine itself.
It can’t be the project
and it can’t be the unreal engine 4 launcher.
BEcause i have changed all those and the same thing still occurs.

Any suggestions sir?
(And I do not know if i am able to reproduce the issue, but i did notice that it started 1 time, when i had 2 of the same projects open, and i tryed to open a blueprint in one of the windows.

Hello caelanim8ter,

Something like this could be related to the machine that you are attempting to run the engine on. Could you provide me with your Dxdiag? This would allow me to see if there are any hardware conflicts that could be causing this issue. Thank you.

Yup, here it is, im not sure if i should like reisntal direct x or something

Hello caelanim8ter,

I see a couple of issues now that I’ve had the chance to look at your dxdiag. The first issue would be that in order to get the engine running, you need to get service pack 1 for Windows 7. Also, you need to go ahead and update your video card drivers to the latest. Currently, your card doesn’t seem to be supporting DX11, so try to update the driver and install Service Pack 1 and see if that fixes your issue.

1: I just got the most recent version of my graphics software just now, and installed it.
still has the white when i try to open up, blueprints.
2: I have never had to install service pack 1, and the engine 4.8 worked perfectly before.
Could there be any other possible explnations? Or solutions to fix this, issue?
Thank you for the time you’ have put into answer this question by the way.

Hello caelanim8ter,

We haven’t seen this issue at all in people who are running Service Pack 1, so that would be my only recommendation as far as how to fix the issue. It seems to be a display issue, and the only thing that may potentially fix it is to update to SP1. Other than that, there isn’t really anything that we can recommend at this point.

Have a great day,

Okay, well i get you, can’t reccomend anything else at this point, but what i can say is that, i just finished, upgrading my system to service pack, 1 and double checked in my computers properties to see that i do indeed have service pack 1,and i just opened up my project, and it still has white screen when viewing a blueprint, looks like im screwed.

Hello caelanim8ter,

Have you also experienced this issue using version 4.9.2? If not, you could always try upgrading to that version and giving it a shot.

Have a great day,

Sean Flint

The issue does not happen on 4.9.2, however i started this forum because i wanted to avoid 4.9.2 because my project can not package on that version of the engine.

(AN explnation of why i created the forum in the first place below)

(It can package, on 4.9.2 but there are 120 packaging errors when i package on the latest version and there are no errors packaging , on 4.8.2. just the white screen issue.

I mean i could have started a answerhub, adressing some of the errors in the packaging log, but it would be easier, to just adress the white, screen issue, because that is 1 issue, vs. 120 other issues.

But for now, i guess we could say the solution of the white screen for others is to upgrade to 4.9.2

I would definitely suggest creating an Answerhub topic on the Packaging & Deployment section relating to your packaging issues. Even though this only seems to be happening in 4.9.2, it’s still important to have those issues addressed. As for this topic, I am going to mark it as resolved for tracking purposes, but feel free to respond to this topic if the issue begins to pop up in 4.9.2.

I had this exact problem too.

Here is the actual solution that fixed it for me:

Mouse over the blank white window that you are trying to open in the windows bar.
Right click.
Maximize.

Every thing opened normally for me after that but it had me stumped for days.

I have this issue in 4.9.2, LiquidJoy’s answer fixes it
