Compiling Shaders takes too long. (Shader)

What is your computer specs?

A simple shader takes between 5 to 20 minute compilation it’s me.
This is huge!
Is there a way to decrease the time of compilation?

it’s normally to take so long while you’re using a dual core CPU

UE4 recommended cpu is quad core processor

Ok merci, je vais avoir un nouveau pc pendant les vacances d’été donc ça sera réglée.

It is obvius it needs a button to compile the shaders on demand because all my sistem is blocked, for example it started to build shader then the autosave started then nothing, It just crashed. I think my system is quite good it’s a dell inspiron core I7 with 6 Gb in Ram and ATI 2048 Mb Video Card Laptop, Games like Skyrim works with full graphic details without problem, Compiling a software with 7000 lines of code is not a problem and here it crashes on some asset shaders :frowning:

Hi Ion,

Loux’s issue was caused by running UE4 on a dual-processor. If you are having an issue with compiling shaders I would suggest upgrading to 4.2.1 and if you have already upgraded, please feel free to post a new question/feature request under Bug Reports.
