It seems reimporting model doesn't always work?

Hi, I made a new project on D:, instead of C: and had the effect that reimporting meshes stopped working. When I clicked on “show in explorer”, it took me to the Package on D:, instead of the Maya source path. I never had this problem with projects situated on C:, but I don’t want to stuff my C: (system) drive with data.

Did you change the location of the source file? If you carried the source file from C to D in explorer then the engine cant find it.

No, my models are in the Maya folder, but the explorer (started in U4 Editor) takes me to my project files. I couldn’t update those meshes and had to delete them and manually bring in the new ones. Like I said, this only happened when I made a project location not on C:

It seems this fact is unrelated, logically, but it’s the only thing I did different from other projects, where the reimporting works.

I have this exact problem. If I import a mesh from D;, it can’t be reimported. If I import it from C;, it can be. If I move a mesh back over to C:, and retarget the source file, I can reimport it. I think my project started on C as well.

It’s aggravating how UE4 wants everything to be stored on C; since so many people are using smallish SSDs these days.

Hi 3DMoss,

I just tested this in 4.2.1 and its working in-house. Which version are you currently using?

There seems to be a problem on your end. There is no such restriction for importing/reimporting assets.

We are on 4.2, but plan on upgrading tonight. I will let you know if it is fixed.

Hi SinKing & 3DMoss,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please feel free to post back here with additional information.

Thanks, TJ
