Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Is there a fix for white screening? when you hold ctrl and alt to move?

So I'm pretty new to Unreal Engine and trying to learn it for when I go to collage; So I downloaded the latest version of 4 and used the first person pre-set to play around. When I held Ctrl and alt to move around as soon as I clicked or moved the mouse the screen would go completely white; I wasn't sure why this was happening and thought maybe it was because my computer is a Mac, so instead I clicked the play button and the same thing happened but I could hear my player moving when I tapped W, A, S, D. Does anyone know how to fix this or is this because my late 2012 iMac isn't up to the job? If you can't tell what I'm getting at I recorded it and asked the official UE Twitter page (told to come here) LINK TO VIDEO: https://twitter.com/Box1um/status/656450854313185280

Product Version: UE 4.7

Hi Oliver,

I was not able to reproduce the white screening on our Macbook Pro. Can you be more specific about your Mac specs? From what you have told me, it would appear that your Mac has a GT 640M card which falls slightly lower than the minimum GTX 470 card (in most cases) when compared side by side:

Also there are other things to consider when troubleshooting this issue, like:

  1. What happens when you try with a normal mouse instead of a track pad?

  2. What specific version of the editor are you using?

  3. What OS do you have installed on your Mac?

  4. Does this occur with other templates?

Please respond with this information and we will continue to investigate.

Hello Steve

I found my old PC mouse to test this but when I used it there was the same white screen result; My Mac is running OS X El Capitan version 10.11, the version of Unreal Engine 4 I am using is 4.7.6. Also when I loaded up the "Flying" template I got the same result.

My iMac's specs are:

-Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

-Memory: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

-Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB

Please try adding engine 4.9 or 4.10 preview -without removing 4.7- and see if this issue still occurs in these versions. A similar issue has been fixed for 4.9.

To do this, in the launcher go to "Library," scroll to the top of the screen and select Engine Versions/Add Versions: Use the drop down to select the latest version of the engine.
