Why are Light Functions not rendering when rendering saved movie via Matinee?

I have some caustics fx attached to spot lights via a light function which are an animated texture using an MP4 file.

The Light Functions show up in the editor, played back through the level play button, via the debug level blueprint play button, and from normal matinee playback. However when I render the cinematic to file via matinee the light functions disappear nor do the lights appear to otherwise be on.

the scene is a large outdoor daytime scene using Distance fields for shadowing.

I would post a screen shot, however the project is under NDA.

Any insight to why this may be happening would be a great help,

Ok so I managed to solve this, and it is more complicated than it should be.

First I am pleased to say that: A) it was not something I forgot to do, like save a material, or content item, and B) wasn’t something that was expressly covered in the docs.
