When I try to install Unreal Engine 4 I get 'A file access error has occurred. Please check your running processes.'

Here is my Log:link text

Hi TheDevReece ,

Try the troubleshooting steps in this section of the troubleshooting guide.

If nothing works, follow the steps here to generate your Debug Logs. Post them here, along with your Dxdiag/system specs.

I have included my log. My system specs will be added soon since I am away from my laptop.

Hello TheDevReece,

Unfortunately, based on the screen shot provided, your system does not meet the recommended specs. Could you please follow the steps above to generate your dxdiag and debug logs? The debug logs will contain more information than the standard logs.

Hello again!

These still appear to be the standard logs. Are you following these steps to generate them?

Getting Debug Logs:
From Inside the Launcher:

In the top-right of the Launcher, click the Gear icon.

Select ‘Enable debug logging’ and then choose ‘Enable Now’.
If your issue occurs at launch or sign in, Select ‘Enable debug logging’ and then choose ‘Restart’.

Reproduce the issue you’re experiencing while the debug logging is on.

After reproducing your issue go back to the Gear icon and select ‘show launcher log’

Place all of the logs in this folder into a zip file and attach it to your AnswerHub report.

Back in the Launcher, select the Settings icon again and select ‘Disable debug logging’ or close your launcher.

I just did everything you said and I got this, I hope this is what a debug log is.link text

Are you going through it, sorry I just really want to use that amazing engine.

Hello again!

Thank you for the logs.

After a quick review:
[2015.10.28-19.36.26:570][ 0]BuildPatchServices: ERROR: Failed to move file Engine/Binaries/Android/Android/UE4-AndroidRuntimeSettings-Android-Shipping-armv7-es2.a

This indicates a permission issue. Please trying running the launcher as an Administrator. If this still does not resolve the issue, please reply back and include the debug logs of that attempt.

Didn’t work but I think it made difference. Thanks though. Second log:link text

I’m still seeing the same error in the logs. Have you been able to install any version of the engine previously?

As I said, it appears to be a permissions error. I apologize if this is asking you to repeat some steps, but just to verify:

  • Temporarily disable any antivirus software that you have monitoring your system.
  • Right click the Epic Games launcher and choose run “Run as Administrator”.
  • Enable debugging logs.
  • Attempt to install UE4.

I did everything you said and checked through the log myself and I still see BuildPatchServices: ERROR: Failed to move file Engine/Binaries/Android/Android/UE4-AndroidRuntimeSettings-Android-Shipping-armv7-es2.a.

Couldn’t I just download the files.
New Log

Have you found anything new?

Hello TheDevReece,

What antivirus protection do your have installed?

Please check to make sure that your anti-virus is disabled/off when you are attempting to download the engine. Please try this then reply back.

Looks like I had some hidden anti-viruses however I uninstalled them, opened in administrator mode and it still didn’t install.

Hello again!

Alright, let’s try this. Go ahead and uninstall the launcher through Control Panel – Programs – Uninstall a Program.

  • Once the launcher has been removed, reboot your system.
  • Navigate to the Program Files directory and verify that the Epic Games folder has been deleted. If it still exists, remove it.
  • Navigate to the ProgramData folder and verify that the Epic folder has been deleted. If it still exists, remove it.
  • Verify that your AV software has been disabled.
  • Reinstall the launcher using an account with Admin privileges.
  • If you can try adding the following as an exception on your firewall: xmpp-service-prod.ol.epicgames.com port 5222
  • Attempt to install UE4.

If the install fails, turn on debug logs and reply back with error messages and logs.

Just did everything: got the same thing: Log

Hi TheDevReece,

We apologize for the delay. We are still investigating this issue for you.

Hi TheDevReece,

What antivirus and/or network monitoring software are you using?
