Sculpt to Specific Height

When I am using the sculpt tool I want to have the tool only raise the height a distance amount each “click”. When i press done the mouse button the landscape raises up to till a point and then stops. If i click again in the exact same place it again raises the landscape by the same amount. If i click and drag it raises the landscape i drag over either up to or between 0 and that amount.
I have seen this in many youtube videos i just don’t know where the setting is and don’t know how to google that.
is an example of him using the brush and he can drag his mouse over areas that he as already raised and they don’t raise higher.

Hello Magicboy926,

The reason that you are seeing him paint and the ground is not raising up is that he is in paint mode. This allows for you to paint your material over the landscape in your scene. If he were still in sculpt mode then the landscape would still rise. So, while in sculpt mode, depending on the strength/falloff/ and size of your brush you are able to manipulate the landscape by various values. If you click and hold your mouse you will see the landscape rise based on the previous mentioned parameters. Since these calculations are vertex based you are able to click and drag to influence the area where you brush interacts with the landscape. Clicking and dragging over a part of the landscape that is already raised will calculated the already risen landscape as a default value of 0 and will continue to add on top of whats there.

I hope this helps shed some insight to the landscape and it’s tools. Here is a link to our documentation on landscape tools that should explain in greater detail what the tools are and how they function.

I don’t believe that is what I am seeing . I understand after he raises the hill he is painting the sides of it with a different texture but when he initially raises the landscape he is sculpting and it is raises only to a specific height even on multiple passes during the same stroke(click)

If you notice the submit date below the video it is March of 2014. I am not sure if the sculpting of landscapes changed from that version to 4.9. However what you can do is use the regular sculpt tool to define about how high and wide you would like your landscape to be. Then, using your flatten tool, you can flatten to to the height at which the flatten begins.

This is a link to a quick video I’ve made showing this.

I realize this post was forever ago, however… Maybe it’s a new feature, because I’ve never found it before.
Using version 4.14.1. If you go to sculpt and then the flatten tool, under the tool settings there is a “flatten target” where you can set the height you want in Unreal Units.
