[Request] Can we get the Owen 3D mesh file (Maya or Max)?

Hi, I checked out the Owen skeletal mesh in the Content Examples, and when I wanted to study and edit its cloth Apex assets I found out that it could be only done in a 3D package and that this mesh’s cloths couldn’t be exported as apex files; when exporting as fbx the whole Owen mesh and opening it in 3DS Max, the cloth appears just as part of the Editable Mesh, but its cloth-related properties are not accessible.

That’s why I’m asking if someone at Epic could upload the original .or .maya file of the Owen mesh with the cloth as apex data, so we can be inspect or edit the cloth or the model there and then import it to UE4.

Could someone at Epic give an answer, please?

Hi , sorry for the delay in response. We’re looking into if this can be shared and if so, what is the best method. Once we have a definitive answer, we will respond.

Thank you for your patience.

Thanks for the response, I’ll wait for the answer.

Hey, just wanted to drop in to give you an update. A lot of discussion is happening about this. Now, we are waiting for Owen’s modeller to return from vacation to let us know what we can share. It may take a few days, since he will be vacationing for the rest of the week at least. Thank you for your patience, we will get the answer to you as soon as we have it.

No problem, and thank you again for the attention, things like things make the difference between you people at Epic and others.

Any news on this by now?

Hi ,

There are a number of aspects which Epic has to take into consideration for this request, such as whether the source asset is in an acceptable state for sharing with then public, the legality of sharing the asset and how it falls under our EULA, and if everything else is acceptable, then how we would choose to distribute to our users.

We have initiated all of the above conversations internally, and we will follow-up here when any decision has been made.

Thanks

I see, sorry for the impatience, and thanks again for your efforts.
