Tilemap vs placing sprites in level?

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a benefit other than the workflow when it comes to using a tileset and tilemap, vs extracting the individual tiles as sprites and then dragging them in the editor? (I mean for building out the entire level)

I like the tilemap method, but I like to be able to copy and paste large chunks and move things around, both of which are impossible with tilemaps.
