Material looking dirty on mesh

I have imported a mesh from of one of my old projects to compare. Both meshes were prepared the same way for the UV’s using steamroller plugin for max, the only difference is I did not use a material normaliser on the new mesh

I have changed the material by using texture coordinates, is it possible to get rid of this dirty look? Or can someone explain to me why this is happening? Thankyou
