Launcher: 4.10.0: The installation is corrupt

I’ve been completely fine using UE4 up to this version. For some reason it refuses to install. The logs contain the following (full log attached). I’ve been searching the AnswerHub for some time trying to find a fix. I’m installing 4.9.2 to see if I get the same results.

I’m installing UE4 like I have every version previously, through the Launcher. It’s installing onto my E: drive which isn’t an external drive.

Update: 4.9.2 installs normally. So it must be something with the new 4.10.0 install.

Hello ,

Could you try verifying your engine and let me know if this has any affect?

Hello ,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.

Thank you.

Sorry, my email notifications weren’t working.

Create Shortcut and Verify aren’t available. Only Remove and Resume are selectable.

Hi Humble,

I apologize for the delayed response. Does it kick back an error when you try to “Resume”? If it does not allow for you to resume, please use the remove option then try to redownload if possible. Please post any error messages produces.

I hit “Resume” and it verifies the download, gets a few more files, and then gives the same error. “The installation is corrupt”

Removing and re-downloading gives the same result as well.

I’m willing to continue diving into this if you guys want. I’ve managed to get 4.10 to build from source so I’m no longer relying on the Launcher.

Hi ,

Thank you for the update. Could you attach a copy of your dxdiag as well?

Your issue has been reported as JIRA OPP-4767.

I tried right clicking and launching as admin to the same result. Attached are my dxdiag and most recent log.link text

Hi ,

I’ve added the information to the report. I’ll update you as soon as I have more information.

Hi ,

If you are still able to assist, could you please verify if the following files do or do not exist within the installed folder:

E:/Unreal/Epic Games/4.10/Engine/Binaries/Win32/CrashReportClient.exe
E:/Unreal/Epic Games/4.10/Engine/Binaries/Win32/UE4Game-Win32-Shipping.exe
E:/Unreal/Epic Games/4.10/Engine/Binaries/Win32/UE4Game.exe
E:/Unreal/Epic Games/4.10/Engine/Binaries/Win32/UnrealCEFSubProcess.exe

A complex answer… After the error message “The installation is corrupt” appears those exe files are not present.

During the attempted installation and the verification phase all of the exe files are present.

Any updates in this? I ran into this exact problem on a fresh Win 10 install: 4.10.2 install fails with corruption, on restart it can’t find download info, on resume it falls into a download-verify loop, 4.9.2 installs fine. Also meant to be installed to c:, an SSD.

Hi again Humble,

The current thought is that there may be a 3rd party app that is blocking the install. The file is failing because we can’t open it, but the files were successfully downloaded and moved. What AV or system monitoring software do you have running?

Good thinking! I disabled Comodo Internet Security and 4.10.2 installed successfully. I supposed to get a notification about every unusual activity but for some reason CIS stayed quiet this time.

I had AVG 2015 installed. Uninstalling it resolved the issue. Thanks guys!

I had assumed that wasn’t the cause since 4.9.2 installed correctly, oh well.
