How do I install UE4.1

I am wondering how to install Unreal Engine 4.1 I was going to stick with the stable release until I updated the engine today and I realized you could now have multiple versions. I am wondering how I would download the UE4.1 preview build. I am currently downloading the Required 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 files.

I’m just curious how to install it so I can choose between the stable build and the 4.1 build on start up of the launcher. I am also wondering where I unpack the required files to.

Okay thanks I’m on that now

I believe “4.1” is the “latest-preview”. Therefore, just clone/fork that tag or download from the releases page. Is this what you were asking?

Basically you just make a separate folder where the source and the dependancies. Build the editor in this directory. As for choosing, I have no idea… I’m currently trying to figure that out myself.

FYI: I just built the base editor and then used the “Generate Project Files” by right clicking on the uproject file. When I built that project, it used the latest-preview build. I think the last version of the UE engine you build is what all the tools use. I’m not sure about switch back and forth, but this is what worked for me. I guess I won’t be switching back to stable anytime soon lol

Hi Brycem24,

We will be releasing the binary version of 4.1 soon. We needed to release the launcher supporting multiple versions first tho, which is why the launcher update came out first :).
