Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Office Holiday

Epic Games' offices will be on holiday from June 22nd to July 7th. During this period support will be limited. Our offices will reopen on Monday, July 8th. 

Object has Overlapping UV's and Lightmap UV are overlapping by 1.3%

Once I build the level I am creating a few of my objects cause the following errors to appear: "Object has Overlapping UV's" and "Lightmap UV are overlapping by 1.3% (This value varies from object to object) Please adjust content - Enable Error Coloring to visualize." I'm using the Infinity Blades: Grass Lands pack for the objects and currently I am having this error with SM_Plains_Vine01, SM_Exo_WoodPlanks02, SM_Plains_Flowers02 and SM_Plains_Flowers04.

I'm still fairly new to UE4 so if you could provide and screenshots of what I need to change in order to correct these errors then that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance :)

Hello Xenoharry,

I was able to reproduce the errors that you see after building lighting. I ran a few tests and discovered this message only appears if you are using any of the assets you mentioned as a foliage type. If you use these as Static Mesh's, even when the mesh is overlapping, the error does not appear.

These are the steps I used to create this test.

  1. Added the Grasslands pack to a new blank 4.9 project.

  2. Added the mentioned mesh's to the foliage brush.

  3. Painted some foliage on a landscape.

  4. Built the level.

Please let me know if any of these steps differ from yours. I believe this could be a bug either with the assets themselves, the reporter, or 4.9.

Hello, I am experiencing the same error with the sames assets SM_Plains_Flower04

Also I get: InstancedFoilageActor_0 Instanced meshes don't yet support unique static lighting for each LOD, lighting on LOD 1+ may be incorrect. Performance Warning No importance volume found and the scene is so large that the automatically synthesized volume will not yield good results. Please add a tightly bounding lightmass importance volume to optimize your scene's quality and lighting build times. Is there any update on this?

The importance volume is called because you do not have a lightmass importance volume within your scene. Please add on and have it encompass all of your assets.

  1. Would you add these assets to a 4.10 project? Does you still see this warning?

  2. Does deleting the SM_Plains_Flower04 from your scene get rid of this message?

  3. I found a bug entered earlier this year and it has been marked as fixed as of 4.9. I am wondering if this error only occurs with this specific asset. If so it is an asset issue.

After you test these three things please respond with your results.
