Hi McCourgette,

Could you please try updating/reinstalling the latest version of DirectX? Instruction on how to do this can be found here:

Hi! I have the latest dx version for windows 8.1 (via windows update)

“DirectX 11.2 is included in Windows 8.1, Windows RT and Windows Server 2012 R2.
Note There is no standalone update package for DirectX 11.2. You can only install this DirectX version through Windows Update in Windows 8.1, Windows RT and Windows Server 2012 R2.”

Hi McCourgette,

We are currently investigating this issue in another ticket as well. You can find that here.

Another user has reported that the following fixed their issue:

  • Press Ctrl-Shift-ESC to open the Task Manager
  • Click Resource Monitor at the bottom of the page
  • Click File → Restore Default Settings
  • Close Resource Monitor
  • Start UE4 and check for the error.

Hey, I had the same problem. Resetting the password as if I had forgotten it fixed it for me.

Hi,

Sorry, but always unable to etablish a web session…

→ in a few day I have to upgrade to 4.10 can I do this offline ?

Hi mccourgette,

As Masur suggested, have you attempted to update your password as well? If so, any changes?

Unfortunately there is no offline installer for the UE editor.

Thank you for this, it resolved my issue after resetting my password, reinstalling direct X, and other things failed.

I have upgrade win8 → Win10 → no change

Hi mccourgette,

Thank you for the information and being patient. The logs you provided along with your dxdiag appear to be the standard logs. Could you please try generating your DEBUG logs? These will provide more information than the standard ones. Steps for the DEBUG logs can be found here.

Hello again!

I have added your information to JIRA OPP-4585.

Another user reported the same issue and was able to eventually get back in by clearing temp files and his cache. His thread can be found here.

Hi!

I’ve tryed but sorry it doesn’t work…(cache + temp)

Hello again,

Thank you for the update. We are continuing to look into the issue for you.

Hi mccourgette,

I’m sorry for the delay. We’re still looking into the issue for you. Could you please try the following (if possible):

  • Uninstall the launcher through control panel.
  • Open a Command Prompt window via the Power User Menu -hold the WIN and X keys down together, or right-click on the Start button, and choose Command Prompt.
  • At the command prompt, type: ipconfig /flushdns
  • Reboot your system.
  • Reinstall launcher using the latest version available from the Unreal Engine website.

If you are not able to or do not wish to uninstall the launcher because you are using the editor in offline mode, then just try flushing the DNS and reboot.

Hi mccourgette,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please try the suggestion that I mentioned above then post back here with the requested info.
