Lights not Affecting Landscape

I have set up a landscape, sculpted it out, and textured it. While I was working I had set up two directional lights to see the terrain with, and they seemed to work fine. I’m new to Unreal 4 so I had set up my house asset, textures, lights, triggers, etc. in another level file. The thing is, once i copy them over from one level file to the landscape level and get it positioned correctly the landscape lights need to be adjusted, (the lighting is flat and wrong, but present) but as soon as I alter the rotation on the lights the entire landscape clips instantly to black. I’ve tried changing the lights from Stationary to Static to Moveable but it doesn’t seem to change. I have tried disabling “Cast Shadows” on both my directional lights and my SkyLight. Perhaps it’s also worth noting that the house object (imported Static Mesh) lights fine, the shadows are angular and blotchy but I figure that’s just lightmap resolution.

Right now I have:
2 directional lights
20-ish interior house point lights
20-ish interior house spot lights
1 sky light

I’m also using a skydome if that helps.

I’ve also tried importing the landscape into the level with the house objects, but the house level’s lights will never affect it, and the lights imported in from the other scene create these giant completely 100% black shadow pools.

I’m pretty frustrated. Anybody have any suggestions?
Note, I really am basically brand-new to Unreal 4, so it’s very possible I could be missing something basic.

Thanks in advance!

Hello QuestionMark,

I have a couple of questions to help better understand your issue and to narrow down what is causing your landscape to be black.

1.) Can you link me a copy of your DxDiag?
2.) Does this happen in a later version of UE4 like 4.8 or 4.9?
3.) Can you create a landscape in a blank project and this still happens?
4.) Do you have a material on this landscape or is it the default materials?

After I have this information I will continue to investigate this issue further.
