Area shadows getting bad result

Im getting a bad result when turning on area shadows for stationary lights.
Dir Light settings

light source angle 5
use area shadows checked on

I get a really blocky result from the light/shadows

5 is too much for area shadows in my opinion, try 1 or 2. Also area shadows may require higher lightmap resolution than usual depending on the scale of the mesh.

Image upload isnt working at the moment but we informed Epic and they’ll fix the problem as soon as possible. You can use photobucket, dropbox or imgur until then.

I have updated with an image. my light map res should be high enough and I have tried light source angle from 1-5 and still get blocky results.

You may want to also check that your Lightmap UV is setup to get the best results. If the floor is it’s own mesh make sure the UV chunk is taking up as much of the UV space as possible for the lightmap.
