Fees and releasing games on UDK or UE4

For UDK 1) Is UDK still OK and FREE to use? 2) Can we still release games made using UDK? 3) If I make a game in UDK and want to release it, what are the fees?

For Unreal Engine 4 1) If I pay a subscription fee now, download Unreal Engine 4 and then cancel the subscription for now, do I have to re-subscribe before I can release the game?

UDK: Yep, you can still use and release games with it. https://www.unrealengine.com/products/udk/udk-licensing-resources#commercial

At the bottom of the page you can see the UDK licensing terms.

UDK:

1 - UDK is ok to use and it is free for non-commercial use.

2 - You can release a game made with UDK with the purchase of a commercial license.

3 - There is a $99 commercial license fee as well as royalties on game sales.

UE4:

1 - No, you don't have to resubscribe before you can release the game. You do need to notify us of the game's release though.

Hi Canon, thanks so much for the info.

I want to use UDK commercially - that is - to make a game I can publish and sell. What do I have to pay in this case?

OK, I see you've answered this question in number 3.

OK, so there's a $99 license fee for UDK (did not know). For UE4, is there a similar license fee or just the royalties?

The following link addresses commercial terms for UDK:

https://www.unrealengine.com/products/udk/udk-licensing-resources#commercial

The UE4 subscription grants you a commercial use license; there isn't a separate commercial use license fee, but as you said, royalties will apply.
