Epic Games Launcher Stuck On Please Wait

Hi everyone, i’ve troubleshoot from each forum and still no luck.

I was previously able to launch and log into the editor.
I recently upgraded my hard drive to a new one with a fresh install of windows 8.1
PC is new bought last year and I am able to play all the latest AAA titles.
I have been using the same pc to complete a project in Unreal.
My graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 960
My pc is set to use the graphics card Nvidia as the display adapter
I use bitdefender antivirus, I have reset all firewall rules and I dont use windows firefall as I use bitdefender
Bitdefender shows the epic games launcher firewall as (allow)
system specs:

Intel Core i7 4790 CPU @ 3.6GHZ
Installed memory RAM 24 GB
64x bit

The launcher is simply just stuck on please wait when i open it.

I have done all the previous troubleshooting on the forums…

Hi Brancoq,

If you haven’t tried them already you can go through the troubleshooting steps in this section of the troubleshooting guide.

If nothing works, follow the steps here to generate your Debug Logs. Post them here, along with your Dxdiag.

Hi Barnabas,

Thank you for the fast response. It’s been resolved.

I will note here for others what worked for me within the instructions you provided to try save other people’s time possibly.

For me the resolution was to simply follow the steps within this link provided

Link:
[1]: A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums.

From there, all I did to get mine working was:

Add the following 2 lines to your BaseEngine.ini:
[Networking]
UseLibCurl=false
The BaseEngine.ini can be found under Epic Games\Launcher\Engine\Config.
Add the “-http=wininet” command. (For Windows Only)
Right-click your launcher shortcut and choose properties.
At the end of the target path field add “ -http=wininet” without the quotes and make sure there is a space before the dash. It should look like this:

Cheers!

Hi Barnabas,

Thank you so much for your quick help.

Your solution provided a resolution.

For anyone else who had this issue all that resolved mine was following Barnabas first link and following these instructions:

Add the following 2 lines to your BaseEngine.ini:
[Networking]
UseLibCurl=false

Once I did that I was able to log in!

Hi Barnabas,

I am back to square one stuck on the original issue, please wait.

I also cannot find the file thats mentioned on the instructions to locate the debug logs on my windows 8.1 pc. I have emailed the accounts with my dxdiag as I feel more comfortable sending them privately. I hope that provides enough details.

Could you follow up on the email chain I have sent through, I have also taken screen shots.

I confirm I have opened the required ports and tested these.
I have re installed launcher, uninstalled, restarted, waited re tried again no luck.

Look forward to collaborating to resolve this as I need to get on with the project.

Thanks again i will keep eye out for urgent response.

Hi Barnabas,

It’s now resolved! Turns out Bitdefender was causing the issue even though i had set everything in bitdefender to recognise the launcher.

So I uninstalled bitdefender and uninstalled launcher, once bitdefender off system I went to re install launcher, launcher did update and i was open to get into the launcher.

Once the launcher was on the pc I went to re install bitdefender after this.Rebooted the PC and now I can use the launcher.

So this is resolved, if anyone else has issue and followed ALL instruction try the above.

Kind regards
