Partly Texture a Surface?

Hi guys!

Well, is there a possibility to partly texture a Surface?
I’m blocking out my level with BSPs at the moment to have raw layout.

For exampe I have a main hall with Marble floor and I’d like to have a carpet on it.
I could use decals, but a carpet texture alone wouldn’t look great.
What I want is, that the carpet should consists of multiple parts:
The main texture and the Border texture. Is there a way to realize this?

(beware of my epic paint sk!llZ)

Is there no other solution than making static meshes for every piece of rug?

If you are mapping out, you dont really need to add details like rugs.
also, bsp should never be used in a final product, so why want a bsp rug?

I believe you can paint textures on objects, you could probably just paint the rug, and then the outside of the rug.

Hello Raildex_

Omnicypher, and Luos raise valid points. For final product you would either take the painterly approach or add geometry. Rugs are a filler and as such should be some of the last assets you add. Large items like a refrigerator or couch, those are the things you would want to add a BSP for. This way scale, placement, level flow and other such conceptual steps can be taken when you block out your level.
