Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Black Media Screen Issue

Spec: UE4 4.10 for Mac Os X El Capitan, iMac (27-inch, late 2013) 3.5 Ghz Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB

  1. When I load a video inside the media player editor, the screen remains black unless I play a bit of video before exiting.

  2. when I reopen the Unreal editor after closing the project, the media player is black again and also any associated media textures that reference it. Its a hassle to go into the media editor again and play a bit so I can go out and work with my media textures in the scene.

This is more of an inconveniences issue, but it would be better if the media player editor could at least load or cache the first frame of video when a new clip is loaded, so I don't have to jump through hoops to work with them.

Thanks for your help with this issue!

Jason W.

1 answer: sort voted first

This is an expected outcome as the default playback rate of your video when importing a media asset, is set to 0.0.

If you set it to 1.0 your video will play at the normal rate. This was done to avoid videos playing automatically, which originally caused some issues with the Media Player Framework.

Thank you,

Andrew Hurley
