Particle FX fullscreen FPS drop

The particle FX doesn’t drop fps on windowed mode, less than 0.1 fps drop, but on fullscreen mode 0 it drops fps by 40, from 70 to 10-20, I’ve been trying to understand what’s wrong with it, but can’t. I tried reinstalling AMD drivers, but nope, anyone knows about this issue?
Graphics Card:
AMD Radeon HD7990

Bump, rly need help on this.

Bump, same issue, I think it’s adding 1 draw call for each particle in the particle system, thus dropping fps by 40, only happens in fullscreen mode set to 0, any help would be appreciated

Hey SongOfDeath,

We try to refrain our users from bumping their posts as this is more of a Forum behavior. We try our best to assist as many users as possible on a day to day basis, and ask you wait at least 24 to 48 hours before requesting further attention.

With that in mind, you have provided us with your GPU which is helpful, but could you also provide us with some screenshots of your particle system and frames per second before the drop, as well as the fullscreen shot where your fps drops?

Thank you,

Sorry about the bump, I can’t take screenshot on fullscreenmode 0 it comes out a black screen but in windowed mode the game play at 40 fps, and stays at 40 fps when spell is cast, on fullscreen mode it plays at 75 fps and drops to 10 fps when spell is cast, here is the windowed mode screenshot:

So I’ve copied the project and tried on another computer, (AMD graphics card again), and it didn’t give the 60 fps drop issue on fullscreen mode 0 on that computer, so it’s most likely about the card, and most likely about the drivers I think, any help would be appreciated.
I reinstalled the engine(not launcher, just 4.9.2, problem persisted, I installed AMD catalyst, removed that and tried with AMD Crimson Drivers, still no luck, I cast a spell in Diablo 3 fullscreen mode and it didn’t drop fps, but spells in diablo 3 are top-down(not very performance hitting), so that might not be rly helpful. The game is gonna be virtual reality supported, it becomes even more crucial that we know what’s causing the fps drop.
I think it might be a driver setting that meddles in with Unreal Standalone fullscreenmode 0, anyone knows about that?

You mention you are designing this game geared for VR, and do you have your Occulus or VR Headset plugged in while you are testing?

There are known issues with having the hardware plugged in, and testing in regular mode and not VR Preview.

No, it happens without the vr device or the motion controllers, I also noticed that while running or moving in fullscreen mode 0, it also drops from 90 to 30 fps, the fps drop increases with the movement speed, while in windowed mode fps doesn’t change while running or moving.
Although I might be wrong, there might be something that happens only on fullscreen mode and not on windowed mode that’s causing this

Is there a way you can provide me with some steps to reproduce this in a sample project, or a test project you can provide so I can take a look at this issue first hand?

Could you provide me with your systems ‘dxdiag’?

If you can find a way to reproduce this issue in a blank or template project please let me know.

Cheers,

I’m buying gtx 750ti today to work with until my titanx arrives, I’ll post here if it also causes the problem.

Haven’t bought new gpu yet but,
When I cloned the project to external hard drive and ran from there fps doesn’t drop anymore while moving, but it still drops when casting that GPU particles spell on fullscreen mode, gonna be typing here any updates on the subject

Is this issu solved?

A bug was never entered for this issue as I did not receive the information I requested from the user reporting the issue.

If you have a reproduction case, I will be glad to investigate this issue further.

Cheers,
