Importing animations won't connect to one specific character skeleton

Just as the questions says, I’m trying to import some animations I have. I got them from the Mixamo store for free, since they have some good free ones available. This is my second time making a character along with animations and importing them in UE4, but this time I’m having a problem. I have the character successfully imported with no problems, but I can’t seem to pick my new character’s skeleton when I try to import the animation. When I try to look for the skeleton and click it. It’s as if I never clicked on it and displays “Select Skeleton.” But if I were to pick another character’s skeleton, I can import the animation just fine. What could be the problem? Please and thanks.

I found a small work around for this. I imported the same animations for another character I previously made. Then I just retargeted the animation to the character I want, but I had to uncheck “Select compatible Skeleton.” The animations work fine and everything’s looking great. But when I go to make a character blueprint, I select the mesh, or skeleton, and get a error saying “Error This blueprint (self) is not a SkeletalMeshComponent , therefore ’ Target ’ must have a connection” What could I have done wrong?

I didn’t do anything but save my project and shut down my machine so I could go watch a movie. When I came back and tried to set up my character BluePrint, everything is working and coming out fine. Is this a bug? weird…
