OSX Editor 4.1 Shadow Corruption in Editor View

I’m seeing some corruption in shadows - only in editor views though :

OSX.9.2 Mac Pro 2013

Did this start occurring after 4.1 patch or was it happening before hand? Further is it only on one asset or does this happen with other assets? Thank you!

It happens with multiple assets, and everything was fine before - even with 4.1 preview.

Hi, I also get shadow corruption in OSX editor, which never happened in pre 4.1 version.

I can’t see original image, so I cannot be certain that problem is same. shadows got corrupted when I added a brush in sky. I have since deleted it, but cannot get shadows to work regardless of quality settings. When ran in standalone mode, shadows are fine.

Have you increased your lightmap resolution? This looks like what might be occurring here. Try to increase lightmap resolution and see if that helps situation. Thank you!

previous screenshot was done at lightmap resolution 32.0, which I guess is default at least in example map. With lightmap resolution at 1.0 I get following results:

I have been unable to reproduce this thus far, Can you try creating a new top down project and see if shadows at 32 resolution are abnormal as you showed above? Thank you!

I’m looking into issue that posted below, but it looks different than one you’re experiencing. Are you still seeing this issue? If so, would you mind giving us some reproduction steps? I would also like to know what your system specs are. Thanks!

Go to Quick Settings > Engine Scalability Settings (located in Toolbar) and check what your Shadows are set to. It looks like you have Textures set at Low. If you bump at least that option up to Medium, you’ll start to see those shadows improve.

I don’t know why shadows warp that much or why they remain warped when you delete brush, so I’m entering a report in our database so our developers can take a look at it. Thanks for letting us know! In meantime, I hope playing with Engine Scalability Settings a bit will resolve issue for you.

With higher texture settings, my shadows looks almost same as in lightmap res 1.0 image above. And to get sharp 45 degree edges instead of smooth rounded, I need to go between 8 and 10 with resolution.

So I guess that mostly fixes it. wobbliness is a weird effect, and I hope information has been useful if you find a bug based on it. If you can get my email address from my account, inform me if I can be of help, or just comment here.
