Strange 0kb Texture Asset Linked to Map

Recently I noticed a strange texture asset in the maps forlder of my game, (Only visible in Editor, not in windows explorer)
the only other assets in there are map files.

The Texture is called “Texture_2D_5_BaseColor” and is 0kb, 8x8 pixels.

Whenever I delete this texture, it also deletes one of my map files.
When I select this asset and open the reference viewer, it acts like I clicked on the Map file. This texture asset isn’t even listed in the reference viewer.

Thankfully I’m using version control, so deleting the map wasn’t permanent, however each time I open the project up after reverting, this texture appears again.

I’m wondering if this is a 4.10.1 problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is a new one. Can you let me know what Map gets deleted and what is in the map? Also it might be necessary to actually look at your project for this issue. Can you share the project either here or via a link sent to me via the Engine Forums’ Private Messages?

Also, I just opened the project again after migrating in some new content, and lo and behold…
