Epic Games Launcher crashes on login

Every time I log in to Epic Games Launcher, the launcher crashes.

I’ve attached the relevant log files for review.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’m hoping to download and start playing Shadow Complex as soon as possible!

Hello Tek7,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble. Could you please follow the steps here and add the “-http=wininet” command to you launcher target line?

Post back with your results.

I added -http=wininet to the command line under the launcher shortcut and the Epic Games Launcher still crashes as soon as I press Enter or click to Sign In.

I also added the following lines to my BaseEngine.ini:

[Networking]

UseLibCurl=false

Unfortunately, the change had no effect and the launcher still crashed on login.

I’m already using OpenDNS for DNS services.

Could it be related to the fact that I have my Windows profile and Documents folder stored on a secondary drive? The launcher crashed regardless where I installed it (C: or D:), though.

Hi Tek,

Could you please send me updated debug logs with the -http=wininet in the target line?

Also, there was a new launcher version pushed out today. Could you please uninstall then try to reinstall using the new version?

I uninstalled the launcher and installed the latest version, but the launcher still crashes as soon as I hit Enter or click to Sign In.

I’ve attached the logs after adding the -http=wininet switch to the shortcut and launching the latest version.

Hi Tek7,

I see based on the logs that the launcher is not being run with admin privileges. Could you please right click on the launcher icon and select “Run as Administrator” to elevate it.

In addition, the error you are receiving is very similar to an issue users running Covenant Eyes Proxy program. If you are running this, or any other network monitoring software, please disable it then try logging in again.

Hi Tek7,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please try the suggestion that I mentioned above then post back here with the requested info.

If you need anything else, feel free to ask.

I do use Covenant Eyes and read that another user was able to log in to the launcher successfully after uninstalling CE: Epic Games Launcher crashes immediately after clicking "Sign In." Only works in offline mode - Getting Started & Setup - Epic Developer Community Forums

Are there any plans to fix this issue on Epic’s side? This is the only game launcher that conflicts with CE; Battle.net and Steam work just fine.

Uninstalling accountability software every time I want to load UT4 is not an acceptable solution.

Here’s hoping either Epic or CE resolve the conflict.

Same issue as Tek7 and Epic Games Launcher crashes immediately after clicking "Sign In." Only works in offline mode - Getting Started & Setup - Epic Developer Community Forums

Same resolution…it would be awesome if this got fixed!

So out of curiosity…if I installed UE4 could I access it in offline mode?
