Child blueprint forgets value

Hello all!

I’ve done my best to sort through the bug lists but I apologize if this is a repeat.

The problem I am running into is that I have a Player Character blueprint from which a “Main” and “Phantom” child are derived. Both are spawned dynamically in game, not placed. A few days ago in 4.9 the meshes were simply gone when I hit play in editor. Looking at both children, the mesh, transform and anim blueprint entries were lost. None of these entries were overwritten in the children, they should be the exact same as the parent. When I override them and play in editor, it works fine, until the editor is shut down and it then forgets again. I upgraded my editor to 4.10.1 today to see if that would fix the issue but to no avail.

Interestingly, if I make a new test child from the parent blueprint, it works and saves just fine. As far as I can tell I don’t have any compiling or other errors that have to do with either child blueprint.

Any idea what I should be looking for to fix this? I haven’t been able to ascertain any repro steps as it seems to be isolated to this one instance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I’m not sure if this has any bearing on the situation, but in going over the blueprints to try to spot discrepancies, the “test child” has an “Actor begin overlap” override in the functions menu that is missing from the two problem children. Can’t see a way of restoring that though to see if it would help in fixing the problem.

Hello ,

Would it be possible for you to provide the project that you are having issue with along with a detailed list of steps needed to reproduce the issue within the project?

Hello ,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.

Thank you.

Hi Rudy!

Sorry for the delayed response, I thought I would have a better internet connection over the holidays but no such luck. Unfortunately my project is probably too large to easily post so I think I am going to try my luck at recreating the blueprint children from scratch as the issue is localized to just them. I’ll post again if it pops up.

Thanks very much for your time, I’m always impressed with the speed and dedication of the staff!

Please be sure to update this thread when you have additional information regarding the reproduction of this issue and I will be happy to assist you further. Until then I am going to convert you last statement into an answer. Once again feel free to reopen the thread for further investigation when you acquire more information.

Make it a great day
