EpicGamesLauncher won't launch

I just downloaded the latest version of Unreal 4 as of 12/18/2015. It installed fine, but as it was launched it simply says “launching please wait” in a little box for hours on end with no completion. I’ve run as administrator, allowed access through my virus software and firewall, and updated every driver and windows update I can think of.

My specs are: NVIDIA GTX-980m, Windows 10, and 32r

Is it jsut the fact that this is a new computer and I have windows 10?

Hi DwarvenPNG,

Try the troubleshooting steps in this section of the troubleshooting guide.

If nothing works, follow the steps here to generate your Debug Logs. Post them here, along with your Dxdiag/system specs.

Sorry about that. I had meant to post my Dx log, but was unsure how to retrieve my debug log. Here they are:

Specs: MSI Dominator Pro Gt72s I7 6820HK 2.70GHz , NVIDIA GTX980m v. 361.43, 32g Ram, Windows 10

I debugged while running as admin as well. link text

Hi DwarvenPNG,

Based on your logs, it appears that your system is unable to communicate with the Epic servers. Could you verify that you followed the steps here, specifically the section about adding the “-http=wininet” command to the target line of your shortcut?

Hi DwarvenPNG,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please try the suggestion that I mentioned above then post back here with the requested info.

If you need anything else, feel free to ask.

I apologize that it too so long to get back to you. I am currently running BitDefender on my laptop and I was trying to see if it was interfering with the start up. No matter what I’ve tried I have not been able to get the program to run past its initial “loading rectangle.” -wininet had no immediate effect but i am attaching my whole zipped log folder to see if that may shed some light on my issue. I would really love to learn to design in your engine. link text

Hello again DwarvenPNG,

Which version of BitDefender are you running? We have seen issues with Total Security blocking access in some cases. If you are running this, could you please try uninstalling BitDefender then installing the launcher and the Epic products? If this work, you can reinstall BitDefender after the Epic installs.

We have NOT seen this issue with BitDefender anti-virus.

I am running total security. I removed it and then installed Unreal and then re installed it. It works perfectly! Thank you so much for your help! I am sorry it took me so long to reply.

Great! I’m glad to hear you were able to get up and running!
