4.10 VR compiled build poor performance!

Launching all my projects in editorVR preview runs over 60 fps even during the tracking, but when run compiled build performance decay especially during tracking. The editor preview runs better than the build!
This on all my pc(intel/nvidia and amd/ati) windows10.

Hello ,

I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. I noticed that you said you can reproduce it in all of your projects, does this mean that you can reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. What VR device are you currently using?
  4. If it is the oculus, what runtime is being used?
  5. Could you check to make sure that your graphic drivers are up to date?

Hello Rudy,
Thank you very much for reply!

First of all I have tried verify 4.10 engine in Epic Game Launcher, it failed with this message:

71836-failed.jpg

So I remove engine and install it again, verify and all done.
However in my project the issue continue, so I’ ve created a new FirstPerson Project and, since there is not a VR template, I migrate VRgame blueprint from EpicContenentExamples/VR(update and compatible with 4.10)and set VRgamemode in world settings.Running it in VR preview all very smoothly(not lag at all).
So Build, cook and package, all done without errors, run the game and…performance, only during tracking, are very very bad, and then esc key not work.

I’m using:

Oculus DK2 Version 1.10(SDK0.8.0.0)HMD Firmware: 2.12

Two different pc (issue reproduce in the same way on both):
Win10(64)
AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Intel(R) Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
8 GB

Win10(64)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
AMD FX™-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.01 GHz
16 GB

Thanks for your help, sorry for my english and happy holidays!

UPDATE

I realized that restarting the PC, clean/project build run smoothly(but just a little load as a download to see bad performance and esc key not work), but my projects builds continue with this issue.
I think that when you exceed certain limits, issue become evident. For example, in one of my projects, disable dynamic shadows, build runs smoothly, you might think that I have reached the limit for my pc but then because I see smoothly (no lag at all) with dynamic shadow activated in VRpreview Editor?
I’m pretty sure that in 4.10 VR compiled build run with a higher load for the CPU than it does the preview.
Also I have never had this problem with 4.9

Hello ,

Could you please answer the second question that was asked? Could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end in a clean project? Could you also provide how much of a drop in frame rate you are experiencing?

ok,
I can’t recreate the issue in a clean project because it occurs in complex scenes.
I did a lot of test on my two most important projects(firstperson and thirdperson), both have managed to reduce the issue and run them decently but only setting the PostProcessQuality to 0, while in VRpreview runs smoothly even setting PostProcessQuality to 3.
The problem is only visible during tracking, if the HMD is stopped everything is smoothly.
I think I did everything possible and since no one else seems to have the same problem I just have to go back to 4.9.
Thanks anyway for your help.

I am going to convert your last comment to an answer. If at any point you acquire additional information on this issue and would like to reopen this thread please feel free to add the information in a reply and I will be more than happy to assist you further.
