FBX Skeletal Mesh Import 4.9 vs 4.10

Hello! So I’ve been working on upgrading a project to 4.10, and have noticed a change in how FBX imports are handled. I’ve posted two images below to show the same FBX file (from Modo 902) being imported into fresh, newly created 4.9 and 4.10 projects, respectively.
First 4.9:

And Now 4.10:

I did notice that when importing in 4.10, it had an extra dialog about “Importing Animation Track” for certain bones that the 4.9 importer did not show. Also, I’m using Modo to export an ACS skeleton if that information is of any use.

Hi ForestCSharp,

Would you be willing to send us this file for testing? If so, you can send the fbx in a zip file directly to me in a private message on our :

Unreal Engine

Yeah no problem! It’s a temp asset so I’ll just throw it here. link text

Let me know what you guys find out! Thanks again.

I tested this in 4.9 vs 4.10 and got the same results as you have posted, however, this appears to be fixed in UE 4.11 Preview.

Please download this version and see if the issue is resolved on your end as well -thanks.

Downloading now! I’ll let you know if it works on my end. Thanks for the quick turnaround!

4_11 Preview One fixed it. Any idea when the official 4_11 release is expected to be?

Due to the intricacies of the Engine we cannot give out an estimation for an official UE 4.11 release date.

Could you provide a fix for 4.10 that I could leverage temporarily? Is there some code in the FBX importer i could modify?

I may be able to track down a GitHub commit if you are working from source through GitHub but if you are working with the Binary version through the launcher, it comes precompiled so you would not be able to make corrections to this version.

Bear in mind, I may be able to track one down only if someone submitted a specific fix for this issue. However, if it was inadvertently fixed by another fix, tracking down the precise changelist will not be possible.
