Can't open UE4, got problem with UE4Editor-Renderer.dll

Hey

I was just using UE4 yesterday and it was fine, but after I saved yesterday when I open it again, while I tried to Launch, a window pop up saying “C:\Program Files(x86)\Epic Games\4.10\Engine\Binaries\Win64\UE4Editor-Renderer.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains as error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000005.”

I found where the file UE4Editor-Renderer.dll is, but I don’t know what to do with it, and I’m not sure how to uninstall the software and re-install it. I tried search on the file name, but nothing useful shows up, I don’t know what to do.

Can anyone help me out?

in my user name there isn’t a folder called AppDate, and I don’t know how to uninstall it, which button should I click to uninstall it?

I’d recommend reinstalling the engine, as it seems like something got corrupted. Before you do this, navigate to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine\4.10 and delete the folders located in that file path. After this, go ahead and uninstall and reinstall the engine and see if that fixes your issue.

You have to manually enter that file path in order to get to it. So in the search bar in the explorer, just copy and paste that file path and enter your username where I’ve put “YourUsername”.

To uninstall the engine, go into your launcher, and in the Library tab click the arrow next to the Launch button and click Remove. It should look like this:

Aww, thanks, I found the folder,

but when I tried to delete one of the folders it has a pop up window says this: “You need permission to preform this action. you require permission from Jason-PC\ican to make changes to this folder”
and this folder is called “saved”

what does that mean?

Make sure that you’ve closed all instances of the engine on all user accounts on your PC, and that you are logged into an administrator account on your PC as well. If you still cannot delete the Saved folder, then just attempt the reinstall without doing so.

Hello,

I am marking this topic as resolved for tracking purposes, as we have not heard from you in a few days. If this issue persists, feel free to respond to this thread. For any new questions, please create a new Answerhub topic.

Have a great day

Go back into the same file path I mentioned above, but ensure that your Epic Games Launcher is closed, as well as any instances of the engine before you attempt to delete the Saved folder. Let me know if that makes a difference and allows you to delete it.

Thx, but I download Unreal Engine again without deleting that saved file, but it still won’t open, I used my brother’s account try to delete it, but it won’t delete neither…I don’t know what to do now

Ok! I can’t open the past project but I can open a new project now, I’ll just discard my old project. Thanks for helping me!

I had the same problem (which said aimodule.dll had problem) too. I fixed the problem by using the verify operation in the drop menu. Since uninstall and reinstall will download the engine again which takes long time if your network is slow, verify operation is much faster. In verify the engine launcher will download some small size files which may be the corrupted files.
Before using verify, I deleted C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine\4.13 contents, I am not sure if this is necessary. You can try not to delete at first, if not working, then delete and try again.
