Will my laptop support UE4?

Hello,

Currently looking to buy a new laptop, I have been considering the Microsoft Surface Book. http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Surface-Book/productID.326556100

Assuming I purchase the 256GB / Core Intel i7 - 8GB / dGPU version would the device handle UE4 smoothly?

Thanks

UE4 does not require much to “support” (run), absolute minimum is SM4.0 GPU (not sure whats dGPU is but it seems to be newer NVidia Geforce so should be ok), 8GB RAM for comftible use (but i run it on 4GB), i run it on Core2Quad so this generation of CPU got everything needed, the rest really is the matter of how fast it will run and thats subjective matter. If anything can go wrong is Intel GPU switching.

Best would be if you find UE4 user that already has that laptop and ask him how UE4 runs on it. Maybe one will anwser here who knows.

I am running UE4 on my laptop with an i5 processor and it works fine, just with the exception of a bit of lag. Although if you want to work on a large project it is suggested that you use a more powerful desktop.

Thanks for the comment, I tried looking into the exact specifications for the GPU within the laptop itself. found this article Microsoft Surface Book Nvidia GeForce GPU details emerge - Laptop - News - HEXUS.net I can’t vouch for the accuracy behind it, but it does seem to give the exact specs within it

I’m not sure if you are still looking but I am running UE4 on a Surface Book. I am using the 256GB / Core Intel i5 - 8GB / dGPU and it runs really well with settings on Epic. The only thing I changed was to “Play in Editor” in a new window at a resolution of 1920x1080 because it does slow down a little bit if you try doing “Play in Editor” at the full 3000x2000.
