Demorec - Issue with Actor Visibility in rewind

Hi,

When recording with Demorec a mutliplayer game, we are facing some issue when scrubbing backward.

  1. Create a scene
  2. Add an actor in front of camera
  3. Set a timer on server side that will hide Actor (so this will propagate to client)
  4. Launch game + Server
  5. Launch DemoRec command
  6. Open demo recorded, play it, wait for Actor to disapear. Pause replay, Go backward on timeline (at a time when Asset was visible)
  7. Asset stay hidden - Bug -

You can use ShooterDemo to help in repro this as ReplayTimeline is present so it’s easy to move backward during replay.

Thanks for report! I was able to reproduce this in 4.9.2 as well as later engine versions, and I’ve entered a bug report for issue (UE-24964). I’ll let you know when I see any update. Thanks!

Excellent that you have been able to repro this.

Thanks for time and I hope this will be considered as “important” because backward scrubbing can’t be use at 100% of its potential.

There’s no update at this time. It’s been marked as Major, and developers hope to address it soon, but it’s unlikely anything will make it into 4.11 at this point. I will let you know if that changes.

This issue is still being investigated by our developers, however there is currently no timeline available for when a fix will be released.
