Incorrect Shadow both Stationary and Movable

Hi

I´m having a really headach about this.

If I set the light source to Stationary, the shadows of the boxes become perfectly good, but the shadow of the tress is completly wrong. Like this 1º picture:

  1. Photo with stationaty light:

If I change the light source to Movable, the shadow of the trees looks better (but not perfect), but the boxes shadows desapears, see 2º picture:

  1. Photo with Movable light:

I Would like a Stationary light, but with the shadows of trees very realistc (the trees moves with the wind)
Thanks if anyone could help me

Hi Filipe,

By default the Stationary Directional Light does not have a distance set for it’s casting of Dynamic Shadows so you will need to set this in the section of the Directional Lights properties labeled Cascaded Shadow Maps and set the property for Dynamic Shadow Distance StationaryLight to some value above 0.

If this value is not set then you will only see the baked shadows. For better baked shadow quality you will want to adjust the lightmap resolution of your mesh/landscape to be higher. If it’s a landscape set the Lightmap resolution incrementally until you’re happy with the results, if it’s a static mesh set it using a power of two value (ie. 32, 64, 128, 256, etc).

I hope this helps.

Tim

thanks, it solved in part. but adjusting the lightmap resolution of the meshes isn´t doing nothing, there is no effect on the shadow quality. How can I increase the shadow quality? Thanks again

Hi Tim
I found the solution
My meshes moves with the wind, and they were settled as Static meshes, so, this was the problem, when I settled them to Dynamic objects the shadows were fixed. This way the Cascaded Shadow is not necessary.
Just to let you know.
Thanks!!!
