Auto Lightmap resolution?

I was wondering if there is a way to automatically set the lightmap resolution of every object depending on their scale in the scene.
Is that possible?

Hey AntonioE,

There is a way to set the Lightmap Resolution for your objects in the scene based off of a min and max range. Take a look at the settings dropdown found next to the build icon.

This is not based on size of your objects, but allows you to set the maximum lightmap resolution for static meshes placed in your scene.

Hopefully this works for you, but if you have further comments or questions, let me know.

Thanks,

can epic games create something like this free for users ?
lightmap based on size of objects

Hey Farshid,

Since a plugin already exists and there is a niche market for this feature, we more than likely will not make this a default engine feature. The industry standard uses a different workflow to control the lightmap density relative to the scale of your meshes in the scene by manually controlling this on a per object/mesh basis.

Thanks for your time and let me know if you have further questions.

thanks for answer

but its very important for all users to have this feature

plugins are not good - we cant use plugins in preview versions

i wish one day see this feature in engine

its boring to set 200 objects lightmap one by one

The plugin is affordable and the source code is open for you to write your own plugin if this functionality is this important to you.

As I mentioned though, this is not in high enough demand from the community and only fits a small number of users requesting this functionality.

Hi guys, Iā€™m another person who confirms the need for this feature.
The current logic of set the lightmap resolution could be supplemented with the auto lightmap resolution by texel per object on level.
This will avoid the routine!
